Last Friday Coloma received confirmation of his selection for the London Olympics 2012. “The national coach phoned me and confirmed my presence at the Olympics. I am excited and motivated for racing this great event. I have worked very hard to be there, defending the colors of the national team. The Olympic Games are a top level event, a very special race for any athlete”, says the Wild Wolf Trek Pro Racing rider.
This race is an event for which the athlete from La Rioja has fought 3 times, always in different circumstances: “In 2004 I was not happy with the selection. I was out and I thought I deserved my presence in Athens. In 2008 there were some communication problems that created substantial stress in me and my performance at the race was not as expected. It’s old news, but always on my mind as experiences I have to learn from. On this occasion I must say I’m satisfied with the selection and very comfortable with the process used by the national team staff. I have been working for the common good of the team and I’m happy of the results. There are good friends who are left out of that selection, but having my partner Mantecón in London with me is very positive for the team”. Carlos sees this opportunity as a way to “give everything to thank the team, sponsors and people who trust me. Without them the Olympic dream would not be possible. It’s a reward for me and everyone who is supporting me day after day”.
Coloma attended a MTB event on Sunday, a great way to enjoy his selection for the Olympics. He cycled in the III Maratón de los Hayedos, held in Arnedo. Coloma values that ride as “a big party. Many of the 250 participants have come to me to congratulate me. You feel loved and valued and that makes you realize how important those news are. The atmosphere was great and the organization, headed by Miguel Gurrea, has worked in an impressive way”, concludes the rider. Carlos decided to ride the short course, in order not to have health problems in a foggy and cold day. The Wild Wolf trek rider arrived in Moscow yesterday to participate in the European Championships.
