“I have not felt like this in my life. It was the best race I’ve ever done. I was riding so easily that it was strange to see myself up there with the best in the world and with margin to increase the pace”, said the Wild Wolf Trek Pro Racing rider.

Coloma was included in the front group right from the start. He was riding in the quartet fighting from third to sixth. “Kulhavy has opened a small gap and after a few minutes I have decided to attack Vogel and Fontana. I was feeling good. I have gone away from them, rolling in 4th position, and I think I would have been able to contact the Czech rider”, says the man from La Rioja, who has just been 7th at the Europeans.

But after opening a gap with these two riders, Carlos suffered a crash: “I have crashed and hit hard. I was dizzy and the Swiss and the Italian have passed me again. It hurt, but after a minute completely unfocused I have found the good sensations and I have passed them again. Still, the chance to fight for third place with Kulhavy was gone”.

Carlos is sore from yesterday’s crash, but with much encouragement for the race in Windham (USA): “the next World Cup is this weekend and my shape should be at the same level as yesterday. I want to fight again for being on the podium and show the regularity that I have always offered as a rider”.

“No me he sentido así en mi vida. Ha sido la mejor carrera que he hecho jamás. Iba tan fácil que se me hacía raro verme tan adelante y con margen para apretar”, comentaba el corredor del Wild Wolf Trek Pro Racing.

Coloma se colocó en el grupo delantero desde el primer momento. Rodada en el cuarteto que iba del tercer al sexto puesto. “Kulhavy se ha ido un poco de nosotros y tras unos minutos he decido atacar a Vogel y Fontana. Iba muy bien. Me he ido de ellos, rodando 4º, y creo que habría llegado a contactar con el checo”, explica el Riojano, que venía de hacer 7º en el Europeo.

Pero tras abrir hueco con esos dos corredores, Carlos sufrió una caída: “me he ido al suelo y me he llevado un fuerte golpe. Estaba mareado y me han vuelto a pasar el suizo y el italiano. Me dolía todo, pero tras un minuto desconcertado he podido volver a encontrar sensaciones y pasarlos de nuevo. Aún así, las opciones de luchar por el tercer puesto con Kulhavy se habían ido”.

Carlos está dolorido de la caída de ayer, pero con mucho ánimo de cara a la carrera de Windham (USA): “la siguiente Copa del Mundo es este fin de semana y mi forma física debe estar a un nivel similar que ayer. Toca recuperarse de la caída y centrarse en esa nueva carrera. Quiero luchar de nuevo por estar en el podio y demostrar esa regularidad que siempre me ha caracterizado como corredor”.
